Globe Tatt Awards 2011

I was invited by a blogger friend to a gathering of the most influential social media personalities - the Globe Tatt Awards 2011. I'm an avid reader of the popular blogs in the Philippines, and I find their articles inspirational and very trendy. They're always up to date in news and other matters that you can find in their posts very helpful to our daily lives.

The glamorous event was held at The Peninsula Manila in Makati last August 26, 2011. Red carpet and tons of camera flash greeted me after signing up. I was very excited to hear the winners and see the performers as well. It's a social media night! :D

From nearly 500 unique nominations in just two weeks, it is finally down to 50 finalists for the 10 categories of the first ever Tatt Awards. Led by Globe-powered Tattoo, they have paved a new avenue for the growing on-line Pinoy explosion with a series of accolades in celebration of Filipinos who share Tattoo’s fiery passion and who have used that energy to create a strong and unforgettable social media presence.

Good food, drinks and music is certainly giving everyone a very lively evening event. I love the performance of Up Dharma Down and Paramita.

It is these inspiring people whose passion for creating visual art through original graphic design, animation and photography has caught fire in the local online art scene. Armed with rousing visuals, Tattoo sees The Artiste and winner in Jin Joson of jinjoson.com.

This award goes to a person or a group of individuals who worked to improve the state of a societal cause in the Philippines through social media. Tattoo recognizes The Advocate in Elizabeth Angsioco of dswp.org.ph and made her the winner.

The Indie Rocker award is for the musical bands and indie artists who fought hard to claim their space in the hearts of the Filipino audience. They created, shared, and now they lead people’s hearts through original music. The winner was my favorite, Up Dharma Down of updharmadown.com.

It’s their unique style that placed them on the radar. They not only reviewed fashion, but also settrends that everyone followed. Tattoo recognizes the Stylisimo of the year winner, Laureen Uy of breakmystyle.com.

For the opinion that launched tons of comments or retweets, from the person with so much balls to make that legendary post in the first place. It is his/her powerful ideas that spread like a virus and took a life of its own. The Tatt Awards Ball Breaker winner is none other than Miss Lea Salonga of twitter.com/MsLeaSalonga.

Informed, in tune and in check with the latest in tech, this person do not only present us with access to the latest in trends, but also the backstage of the fast pace world of e-knowledge. This year’s Tech Junkie winner is Mark Macanas of techpinas.com.

These nominees are ahead of the pack in terms of online popularity and content. As trendsetters, they have shaped opinions, moved people and ultimately blazed a trail in Philippine internet.  The winner, or should we say, the winners for The One are the Filipino Freethinkers of filipinofreethinkers.org!

The winners will receive P100,000 cash and Tattoo premium broadband products.

These people really inspire me - I wonder when I can get awards too on my own? I still have a long way to get there! Till our next event happenings! ;)
